An elevator shaftwall assembly consists of four-inch channel studs backed by a hollow structural section measuring 12x4 inches as sized per structural drawings. The interior side is finished with two layers of 5/8-inch gypsum wallboard, maintaining an alignment of the shaft wall and steel to the edge of the slab below. An elevator guiderail, supplied by others, mounts adjacent to the shaft side.
