A concrete tread incorporates a contrasting non-slip abrasive strip recessed into the upper surface near the nosing edge. Dimensions indicate a minimum 2-inch width for the abrasive strip layout and a maximum 1-inch offset from the front edge of the stair tread. A note specifies that contrasting non-slip abrasive strips shall be installed at the top and bottom treads of each continuous flight of interior stairs, and at every tread for exterior stairs.
