A flush transition connects a gypsum board soffit down to an acoustical ceiling panel system. The vertical drop is framed with three and five-eighths inch metal studs spaced and anchored with low-impact fasteners at twenty-four inches on center into the bottom of the structure. The cavity is filled with acoustic insulation and faced with five-eighths inch gypsum board. A nine-sixteenths inch shadow reveal transition molding is integrated at the junction, painted to match the adjacent gypsum wallboard, providing a clean architectural break between the soffit and the acoustical ceiling grid.
