Metal counter-flashing is secured to the wall with mechanical fasteners spaced at a maximum of twelve inches on center. A single-ply sealant or standard sealant is applied at the top joint of the counter-flashing. When mechanical fasteners penetrate the metal counter-flashing, EPDM washers must be used, water cut-off mastic must be applied under the counter-flashing, or fastener heads must be caulked. This detail is restricted from use on warranty projects exceeding ten years.
