A six-inch vertical drop connects a suspended lay-in ceiling system to a lower gypsum board ceiling finished against a metal stud and gypsum board partition. The acoustical ceiling grid is supported by hanger wire tied back to the overhead structure. A metal stud partition divides the two ceiling heights, with gypsum board applied to both faces. The lower ceiling level frames directly into the partition framing assembly.
