A fiberclad metal pitch pan surrounds a cleaned and primed steel handrail penetration and is fastened to wood blocking with galvanized annular ring shank nails at three inches on center. The wood blocking is attached at two hundred fifty pound-force per foot, while compressible filler and insulation fill voids around the penetration with a bond-breaker and non-shrink grout. The interior side of the pitch pan and penetration are primed, and the pan is filled with self-leveling one-part urethane sealant. A heat-welded FTR membrane flashing strip ties the pan into the roof membrane, with non-reinforced FTR heat-welded at the corners and a strip reinforcing the corner seam of the pitch pan.
