A continuous twenty-gauge minimum three-inch deep leg deflection track is attached to the underside of the fluted steel deck at twelve inches on center maximum with powder-driven fasteners. Gypsum board and studs remain unattached to the deflection track in the specified clearance area to allow structural movement. Continuous two-inch wide by twenty-gauge metal straps provide top attachment for the studs. When the partition aligns at a deck flute recess, a six-inch by ten-inch by twenty-gauge metal plate is provided contiguous with the partition and secured to the deck with powder-driven fasteners at the same spacing required for the partition top track. A line of ceiling finishes as scheduled intersects the partition below.
