A continuous twenty-two gauge minimum three-inch deep leg deflection track is fastened to the concrete-filled fluted steel floor or roof deck at twelve inches on center maximum, oriented perpendicular or diagonal to the flutes. The deck flute recesses are filled with mineral wool insulation. A gypsum board partition terminates below the deflection track, featuring a continuous two-inch wide by twenty-two gauge metal strap attached to the gypsum board at eight inches on center maximum. Gypsum board and studs remain unattached to the deflection track in this clearance zone. Spray-applied firestop material is applied to each side, overlapping the gypsum board and deck by a minimum of one-half inch.
