A 1-1/2-inch diameter metal handrail is finished with a field-painted coating per interiors and returns toward the wall with a 2-1/2-inch radius, maintaining a 1/4-inch clearance from the wall finish. A three-quarter-inch bent anchor is welded to the handrail and centered on a 3-inch by 3-inch by 1/4-inch mounting bracket. The bracket is attached at a maximum spacing of 48 inches using two 1/4-inch drilled-in expansion bolts. The handrail extension aligns with the stair tread noising below, positioned eleven inches or equal to the tread at the bottom riser against a scheduled wall type and finish.
