A metal pipe, insulated cable, or metal conduit passes through a 1-hour fire-rated wall framed with metal studs and faced with 5/8-inch Type X gypsum wallboard. The annular space between the penetrating item and the wall assembly is sealed with CP-25 non-sag caulk, applied one-half inch thick flush to the exterior panel of the fire-rated wall. The maximum allowable annular space to be filled is two and one-half inches.
