A round metal duct passes horizontally through a one or two-hour rated gypsum board wall assembly framed with metal studs. An approved firestop sealant is applied at the point of contact on both sides of the partition with a one-half-inch minimum bead. The penetration complies with Underwriters Laboratories system number W-L-7042.
