A wide-flange steel beam connects to a vertical structural column using a welded-and-bolted shear tab. The beam web fastens to the vertical plate with six bolts in a single vertical row. The top and bottom beam flanges feature cope cuts to clear the connection plate and column geometry. A dimensioned offset labeled tbf indicates the top of beam relative to the structural grid or reference line. Fillet welds secure the shear tab to the column and shop welds attach it to the beam web where applicable.
