A one-half-inch perimeter gap prevents direct contact between the penetrating element and the surrounding structure. The joint incorporates one-inch safing and batt insulation with a foam backer rod as required for duct penetration. The perimeter is sealed airtight using acoustic sealant, with non-hardening fire safing utilized where required.
PENETRATING ELEMENT AND STRUCTURE. 1/2" PERIMETER GAP, AVOID DIRECT CONTACT BETWEEN 1" SAFING, BATT INSULATION FOAM BACKER ROD AS REQUIRED FOR DUCT PENETRATION. SEALED AIRTIGHT USING ACOUSTIC SEALANT, NON- HARDENING FIRE SAFING IS EQUIVALENT , WHERE REQUIRED.
