A structural steel channel member and angle are framed into a supporting beam at a floor or roof opening, maintaining a one-half inch gap from the support. The L4x3x3/8 angle measuring zero feet nine inches long connects to the channel per plan. A typical shear connection with three bolts secures the member to the beam web. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld secures the deck plate to the top flange. The opening side explicitly prohibits the use of bolts.
