Galvanized steel pipe guardrails and handrails are detailed at concrete landings and pedestrian ramps with vertical posts spaced at six feet on center maximum. Posts are anchored into concrete using two-inch diameter by twelve-inch long steel pipe inserts cored into the concrete slab. Multiple horizontal rails constructed of one-and-one-half-inch galvanized steel pipe are welded to the vertical posts with all welds ground smooth. Reinforcing steel includes number four bars at twenty-four inches long at each side of the post. General notes require compliance with soils reports for slab preparation, structural drawings for steel reinforcement, and hot-dip galvanizing for all exterior miscellaneous metals.
