A one and one-quarter inch diameter standard steel pipe handrail and guardrail post is inserted into a two and one-half inch diameter standard steel pipe sleeve embedded in concrete. The sleeve is welded at the bottom with a one-quarter inch steel plate and secured with anchoring cement inside the finished concrete slab. A one and one-half inch diameter standard steel pipe top rail is attached above, maintaining a height of three feet six inches at guardrails and three feet to stair nosings at handrails. All connections are welded and ground smooth typically, with the assembly positioned a minimum of four inches from the edge of the slab where applicable.
