A maximum 4-inch diameter metallic pipe or conduit penetrates a partition wall sized per plans. The annular space between the pipe and the opening measures a minimum of 1/4 inch up to a maximum of 1 1/4 inches. The opening is tightly packed with a minimum 2 1/2-inch thick layer of mineral wool insulation forming material. A minimum 1-inch thick layer of sealant is applied within the opening, flush with the surface of the wall on both sides. The assembly complies with UL listing W-L-1064.
