An HVAC duct penetrates an acoustical partition framed with metal tracks and gypsum board layers enclosing batt insulation. Continuous fire-rated acoustical sealant is applied all around both sides of the penetration with a typical one-half-inch gap. Any gap larger than one-half inch requires a gypsum board patch lapped a minimum of two inches, secured with screws, and sealed with acoustical sealant. Ceilings are installed where indicated on drawings.

ANY GAP LARGER THAN 1/2" SHALL BE COVERED WITH GYPSUM BOARD, LAPPED A MINIMUM OF 2" AND SCREWED BEFORE USING ACOUSTICAL SEALANT.
