A roof drain installation is set into a wood-framed roof assembly. The roof drain unit is mounted through the roof sheathing with mechanical fasteners, supported by structural framing as noted. A reinforced membrane waterproofing layer extends over the rigid insulation and terminates into the drain flange with continuous sealant. Tapered rigid insulation forms a drainage sump around the unit at a slope less than 3 inches per horizontal foot.
