A hollow metal door frame head sets within an exterior wall assembly, with spray foam insulation filling the connection to the rough opening. An exterior insulation and finish system with two inches of rigid insulation overlays the wall framing and air barrier. A metal drip flashing extends over the door frame head and integrates with the air barrier. Sealant with a backing rod seals the joint between the metal flashing and the door frame.
