A 3-5/8 inch by 20 gauge minimum cold-formed steel stud strongback is braced against a concrete-filled metal deck with brace lengths greater than 8 feet. A 3-inch by 3-inch by 16 gauge angle connects to each brace, spanning a minimum of two ribs and attaching at the low flutes. Two attachments are required per rib, utilizing a 0.157-inch diameter powder-driven fastener with a 1-inch minimum embedment at concrete-filled metal decks, or number 10 sheet metal screws at insulated fills. The strongback fastens to the angle using four number 10 sheet metal screws.
