Cold-formed metal stud framing requires horizontal bridging to provide lateral support and prevent buckling. For six-inch studs, use a two-and-a-half-inch by sixteen-gauge member with a half-inch horizontal flange bridging. For three-and-five-eighths-inch or four-inch studs, use a one-and-a-half-inch by sixteen-gauge member with a half-inch horizontal flange bridging. The bridging members are secured through clip connections to the vertical studs.
1/8" NOTES: FOR 6" STUD USE 2 1/2" X 16GA. W/ 1/2" FLANGE HORIZONTAL BRIDGING. FOR 3 5/8" OR 4" STUD USE 1 1/2" X 16GA. W/ 1/2" FLANGE ORIZONTAL BRIDGING
