A pre-applied waterproofing membrane lies beneath the mud slab supporting the foundation walls. A continuous sheet waterproofing membrane wraps the exterior of the concrete walls and terminates at a continuous one-inch wide termination bar sealed at the top with liquid membrane. Below-grade construction joints incorporate waterstops to prevent moisture ingress. A concrete sump pit features an automatic permanent sump pump and hot-dipped galvanized grating supported by two-by-two by one-eighth inch galvanized steel angles, flush with the bottom of the pit. A hoistway divider beam connects to the upper concrete structure adjacent to the elevator pit.
