This assembly consists of two cold-formed metal studs placed back-to-back to accommodate a vertical control joint in a gypsum wallboard partition. A surface-mounted vertical control joint profile is installed at the face of the gypsum board, which is specified per the scheduled partition type. The gypsum board is left unfastened at the joint to allow for movement. The assembly is supported by metal studs on each side of the control joint.
