A matching one and one-half inch outside diameter steel pipe handrail is attached to the post via a bent steel rod support. The guardrail height is maintained at a minimum of forty-two inches, while the handrail height is positioned between thirty-four and thirty-eight inches above the top of the concrete stair tread nosing. A four-inch minimum toe board is provided at the base of the guardrail. The concrete stair tread connection to the stringer is specified to be per the stair manufacturer's design.
