This double metal stud wall assembly maintains a minimum one-inch clear separation between stud rows to provide acoustic and mechanical isolation. Each stud row receives four-inch batt thermal insulation and lateral stud bracing as required, omitting rigid cross-bracing between the rows. The exterior faces are finished with one layer of half-inch fire-retardant treated plywood backing, one layer of half-inch Homasote, and one layer of gypsum board, protected by an exterior building wrap.
