A rated concrete and metal deck floor slab supports a metal stud partition head connected via minimum 2-inch wide 16-gauge galvanized steel straps spaced at 16 inches or 24 inches on center to match stud spacing. The straps are secured with minimum 1/8-inch powder-actuated fasteners having a 1-1/4-inch minimum embedment. Sheet metal screws fasten the framing members, supplemented by web stiffeners as required to meet limiting height requirements and maximum unbraced length. Additional layers of gypsum wallboard and sound attenuation fire blanket are provided per partition type.
