A structural steel column connects to a base plate with a specified column-to-base plate weld. A three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate attaches to the column and a diagonal brace member sized per plan, with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on both sides. The gusset plate is trimmed as required to maintain clearance. A one-inch dimension references the tower cap elevation at one hundred four feet and eleven and three-quarters inches. Bridge base plates are referenced on separate sheets.
