A structural steel beam connects to a vertical column member using a shear tab secured with two three-quarter inch diameter erection bolts and slot-hole details. A diagonal brace member frames into the joint via a three-eighths inch gusset plate welded to the column and beam assembly. Complete joint penetration and fillet welds of three-sixteenths and five-sixteenths inch sizes secure the plates to the main structural sections per the engineering design. Special seismic force resisting system designations apply to the connection welds and members.
