A concrete tilt-up wall provides structural support above an aluminum window head assembly with a 3/8 inch clearance maintained between the structural element and the window frame. Shims as required with sealant over backer rod are installed at each side of the head. An interior backup wall consists of 5/8 inch gypsum board over three and five-eighths inch 20 gauge metal studs spaced at 16 inches on center with 3 and 1/2 inch R-13 batt insulation, separated from the concrete by a 1/2 inch air space. Additional sealant is applied at the interior junction between the window frame and the stud wall assembly.
