Junction between a concrete stair landing slab and a hollow structural section steel tube. A concrete slab on metal deck bears on a steel angle framing member. The steel angle connects to an HSS12x2x1/4 steel tube painted where exposed, maintaining a two-inch clearance. A continuous backer rod and joint sealant fill the gap between the HSS tube and the adjacent wall, while a one-half-inch gap is provided unless noted otherwise. Engineering and weld requirements are designated per performance specifications.
