A structural steel beam frames into a column using a three-bolt shear plate connection, supplemented by top and bottom three-eighths-inch plates welded with quarter-inch welds on three sides typically. Three three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts secure the connection. The beam and column sizes are sized per plan.
