This interior partition detail shows a control joint in a double-layer gypsum wallboard assembly. The wall is framed with steel studs spaced twenty-four inches on center and filled with acoustic insulation. Each face of the partition features two layers of five-eighths-inch gypsum wallboard sheathing terminating at a specified control joint with a joint compound finish. Acoustic sealant is applied within the joint gap, which measures one-half inch wide.
