A structural steel column, sized W10x49 minimum, is wrapped with a 1-5/8 inch steel stud framing perimeter. The enclosure is finished with a minimum of two layers of 5/8 inch Type X gypsum board. Corner beads of number 28 gauge galvanized steel with 1-1/4 inch legs protect the outside corners. This assembly complies with UL Design X528 for fire resistance.
