The concrete walk expansion joint consists of a one-half-inch felt expansion joint material capped with a one-half-inch sealant on top, finished with tooled one-quarter-inch rounded edges. Number five smooth dowels twenty-four inches long are spaced at twenty-four inches on center, wrapped with a bond breaker on one side. Six by six inches, number ten by number ten welded wire mesh reinforcement is discontinued at the expansion joint. A control joint features a one-quarter-inch deep saw cut with a one-eighth-inch width over a ninety percent compacted subgrade.
