A countertop with a 1/8 inch radius edge projects over the supporting cabinet structure. The overall thickness of the countertop assembly measures 2 1/4 inches, with a 1/2 inch gap above the cabinet door. The cabinet door is spaced 3/4 inch from the front face of the underlying support and features an interior mounting bracket or hinge mechanism. The substrate beneath the countertop is 1 inch thick.
