The assembly comprises a concrete slab over metal deck supported by a steel beam with spray-applied fireproofing and a continuous steel plate. The adjacent mechanical shaft wall utilizes six-inch metal stud framing spaced at sixteen inches on center with one-inch shaft liner and five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board on both sides. A continuous steel bent plate bridges the slab edge to the wall assembly, while mineral wool packs into the metal deck flutes. Compressed mineral wool fire-safing insulation and fire-rated sealant are applied at the slab edge to achieve the required one-hour UL rating. Acoustical batt insulation fills the full thickness of the metal stud cavities.
