This window head detail integrates a storefront system with a composite head and a storefront head flashing beneath horizontal metal cladding and vertical metal cladding returns. A weather-resistive barrier laps over the metal head flashing and SAM head flashing, while flexible flashing seals against the window head trim using backer rod and sealant. The exterior cladding is supported by horizontal Z framing and C metal per manufacturer specifications over an eighteen gauge plate and head framing sized per structural. On the interior, gypsum board returns to the storefront frame below the ceiling level defined per plan.
