Two new two-hour shaft walls conforming to UL-U437 are constructed adjacent to an existing building wall after removing the exterior insulation and finish system and insulation. Dimensions indicate a three-inch gap between the shaft wall assemblies and a one-foot two-inch dimension from the grid line to the first shaft wall layer. The existing wall is maintained while new two-hour rated construction is built alongside it.
