A hollow structural section post measuring 5 inches by 5 inches by 1/4 inch embeds directly into a reinforced concrete foundation footing. The footing measures 24 inches square and 3 feet deep with a 4-inch concrete clearance beneath the embedded post. Four 1/2-inch diameter welded studs are welded to the tube within the concrete embedment zone for anchorage. A closure plate caps the top of the steel tube, and the finish slab surrounds the post at grade.
