The stair assembly consists of checkered steel plate treads and steel risers supported by a hollow structural section steel stringer. A one and one-half inch diameter pipe guardrail post is welded to the stringer with all welds ground smooth. The stair nosing includes a two-inch wide safety yellow warning stripe. The tread geometry is defined by a seven-inch maximum riser height and an eleven-inch minimum tread depth, with a three and one-half inch maximum opening between guardrail pickets. All steel components are shop primed and site painted per project specifications.
