This assembly consists of three-quarter-inch structural wood flooring treads and risers supported by two-by-twelve wood stringers. A vinyl stair nosing is applied to the leading edge of each tread, with a one-inch typical overlap. Leveling compound is applied to the wood tread surface where existing wood is worn or splintered. The underside of the stair carriage is finished with one-half-inch Type X gypsum wall board. The riser height varies up to a seven-inch maximum, with an eleven-inch typical tread depth.
