A two-stage floor drain is set into a concrete slab featuring a sloped mortar bed with a maximum two percent slope toward the drain. A slurry bond coat is applied where necessary beneath the sloped mortar bed, which is reinforced with 16-gauge two-inch by two-inch welded galvanized steel mesh. A waterproofing membrane extends beneath the tile mortar bed and ties into the drain housing. LHT or medium bed mortar supports the finish flooring, set over a drainage composite filler and epoxy grout. Silicone sealant and bond breaker tape seal the joint at the drain perimeter.
