A two-and-a-half-inch twenty-gauge metal stud brace is secured to the structure above and the partition top track using three-inch by four-inch by sixteen-gauge steel angle clips. The top track connects to the structure with quarter-inch powder-driven fasteners, while the angle clips fasten to the stud brace using number eight sheet metal screws. The assembly supports a partition wall containing acoustical insulation and gypsum board or acoustical tile ceiling finishes on each side. Braces are spaced at four feet on center staggered, with bracing provided on both sides at door jambs.
