A walkway support column and base plate bear upon a concrete pedestal with non-shrink grout installed underneath. Four 2-inch diameter hot-dipped galvanized mild steel anchor bolts secure the base plate, featuring extra heavy-duty nuts with three per bolt and extra heavy washers at both the top and bottom. Protective coatings are removed from the base plate under the nuts and washers prior to installation, and touch-up paint using a two-part epoxy exterior paint is applied to the exposed anchor rod and nut after final torque is set. The anchor bolts require a 12-inch minimum projection that is threaded across its full length.
