Tactile exit signs require contracted grade 2 braille per California Building Code Table 11B-703.1 and Figure 11B-703.3.1. Signs are positioned adjacent to the latch side of single doors and on the right side of double doors. The baseline of the lowest line of braille is set at a minimum of 48 inches above the finish floor, while the baseline of the highest raised character is placed at a maximum of 60 inches above the finish floor.
