An intermediate stair landing beam frames into a galvanized HSS 4x4x3/8 steel column with a one-half-inch thick cap plate underneath. A C12x20.7 steel channel beam connects to the column using a three-eighths by three-and-a-half by nine-inch shear tab fastened with three three-quarter-inch diameter A-325 N bolts. Fillet welds of five-sixteenth-inch size secure the connection between the plate and structural members. A diagonal L3x3x1/4 angle provides bracing for the intermediate landing as required. Intermediate stair landings bear on the floor below, and stair landing support columns may be continuous for this framing option.
