A C12x20.7 steel channel is supported by a steel column capped with a 3/8-inch by 3-1/2-inch by 3-1/2-inch cap plate welded with a 1/4-inch fillet weld. A 3/8-inch by 3-1/2-inch by 9-inch plate connects the assembly using two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325 bolts with threads included in the shear plane. Fillet welds of 1/4-inch size secure the connection plates to the structural steel members.
